New surgical methods in breast enlargement
Breast augmentation is one of the most commonly performed procedures in plastic surgery. Our experience shows that women today demand natural-looking results that are safe in the long term and as free of complications as possible. A new generation of implants, filled with an elastic and soft silicone gel, allow natural results due to their deformability. When lying down they are round, when standing up they are teardrop-shaped. This imitates the natural behavior of the normal breast. Together with autologous fat in the so-called hybrid procedure, the breast around the implant is additionally augmented with autologous fat. The result is smaller and lighter implants that, together with the autologous fat, adapt more naturally to the body’s position.
Dr. Dorrit Winterholer and I combine the hybrid procedure with surgical techniques that provide additional safety. With the so-called “No-Touch” and “Minimal-Scar” technique, the sterile implants do not come into contact with either the patient’s skin or the gloves of us surgeons. This is achieved by inserting the implant into the breast through a sterile funnel. What are the advantages? It has been proven that infection rates and the development of capsular fibrosis around the implant are reduced. Implant rupture is also less frequent. Another important advantage of using a narrow funnel for patients is the “minimal scar” effect: the incision for inserting the implant can be made much smaller and results in a smaller scar for the patient. Small, barely visible scars and natural results are the result.
